Shanghai Nights
The past few nights, I’ve put my tripod on the back of my bike and gone off riding around town. I hadn’t done the long-exposure night photo thing in years and I had forgotten how much fun it is to be out taking photos at 1 a.m. Plus, the air pollution here makes for really cool looking nighttime skies. Enjoy!

The Expo B-list
Since the World Expo is so crowded, I decided to beat the 3 hour lines and check out some of the lesser- known pavilions and see what they had to offer.
Libya had a portrait of a beaming Qaddafi, and not much else
If murals of Ahmadinejad kissing old people is your thing, then the Iranian Pavilion doesn’t disappoint.
Afghanistan’s really optimistic sign. Inside was a few photos and a rug store.
I feel kind of bad calling countries out, but I don’t think anybody really believes that Togo has high-speed rail.

And of course no visit is complete without North Korea.

And no visit to North Korea is complete without stopping by the gift shop for some Kim Jong-il stamps!

Biking to Suzhou(and back)
Because of the World Expo, I have off work two days in a row for the first time in months, so yesterday I decided to bike a far as I possibly could. I figured that since Suzhou is a little over 50 miles away I could make it there and back in one day I started off from Shanghai at 9 am and got to Suzhou about 7 hours later. I didn’t have too much time to relax and sightsee as I had to somehow make it back to Shanghai. A little after midnight I finally got back home. I can barely move more than 10 feet right now, but in a good way.

Suzhou

An ad for a new development in Anting. Something about that skyline looks familiar
Could it be? Yup, it’s Baltimore!
